Lot of 2.2 kg of Argentiferous Galena, Pyrite and Chalcopyrite - Ex Mining District Serenissima, Vicenza, Italy - 26 Pieces
This lot of Argentiferous Galena with Pyrite and Chalcopyrite comes from the historic Ex Mining District of the Serenissima , an area in the north of Vicenza (Italy) rich in geological history but today little known, active with over 100 mines during the period of the Republic of Venice, where lead and silver were once extracted.
The mixed specimens from the Ex Mining District Serenissima, in the Province of Vicenza (Italy) , were selected manually and show abundant argentiferous galena in cubic and lamellar metallic crystals with bluish-silver reflections, indicating the presence of finely dispersed silver inclusions in the galena matrix. Often associated with bright encrustations of pyrite and golden chalcopyrite.
Handling Safety Note: Galena is a lead sulfide mineral. Although stable in solid form, grinding or crushing specimens can release fine lead-containing dust, which can be toxic if inhaled or ingested. Always wash your hands thoroughly after handling. Avoid breathing dust or performing mechanical work without adequate safety precautions.
