The natural rough opals selected in our shop are Hydrophane (Dry) Opals, featuring vivid colors with unique patterns and full crystal masses with little or no inclusions, perfect for cutting into top-quality gemstones or for collecting.

What is a Hydrophane (dry) Opal?

It is a natural hydrophane opal, which absorbs water and self-regulates its internal humidity. It requires no treatment and maintains its integrity once dry, except in the event of severe temperature changes. Unlike non-hydrophane opals, which are often unstable and treated with oil, dry opal is highly prized for cutting and for fine jewelry.
