Spirit Quartz, also known as Cactus Quartz, is a spectacular variety of quartz distinguished by its characteristic crystalline secondary growths: each main crystal is literally covered with smaller microcrystals. The result is a sparkling and mesmerizing visual effect, which has made it popular among collectors and crystal healing enthusiasts. Coming exclusively from the heart of South Africa, they can be hyaline, amethyst, or the rare citrine and ametrine, sometimes covered with a natural patina of limonite or hematite.
